Spanish Steps and Fontana della Barcaccia

The ancient Campus Martius, long used as a military training ground in Ancient Rome, is today an elegant district developed from the 16th century, stretching up to Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo. It includes some of the most luxurious streets in the city, lined with fashion boutiques, antique shops, artisans, and distinguished hotels.

The two aforementioned squares lie at the foot of the Pincio Hill to the west, featuring its charming 19th-century landscaped park, and to the east, contiguous with the Villa Medici – the French Academy in Rome – and its beautiful gardens, extending up to the church of the Trinità dei Monti, whose twin bell towers overlook the Spanish Steps.
This hill is intersected further north by the Viale del Torto, which runs alongside the ancient Aurelian Walls and borders the monumental park of Villa Borghese.
To the east, the small inner-city district of Ludovisi stretches along Via Veneto, a street famous for its luxury hotels and restaurants, running between Piazza Barberini and Porta Pinciana.
