    Capitol Square Rome

    Capitol Square

They are mostly of a Renaissance appearance but often date back to antiquity, like Piazza Campidoglio, the Capitol Square, on the hill of the same name, which was the religious heart of the ancient city (see also the history of Capitol Hill).
Its present appearance was designed by Michelangelo in the sixteenth century. It is occupied by the Senate Palace (Town Hall) and the buildings which house the Capitoline Museum, with its important ancient works.

    Piazza Navona

    Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona is perhaps the most emblematic square of Rome, with its outstanding Baroque architecture, whose masterpiece is the monumental fountain of the four rivers sculpted by Bernini and topped by an obelisk. It occupies the center of an area that has kept the same shape as the ancient Stadium of Domitian.
Many artists-painters devote themselves to their art there, while cafes and restaurants occupy part of the perimeter.

    Spanish Steps

The famous Spanish Steps, with its elegant stairs dominated by the church of Trinita dei Monti at the top is commonly considered one of the most romantic places of the city.
In spring, its steps are adorned with flowers.

    St. Peter's Square

    St. Peter’s Square

St. Peter’s Square is hugely impressive, with its superb colonnades in four rows designed by Bernini and the majestic basilica built over the tomb of the apostle.Rebuilt in the sixteenth century, the greatest artists of The Renaissance participated in its realization.
